NEW YORK (TRP) – A 6-year-old Massachusetts girl battling cancer is probably still on Cloud 9, a day after she went out on a dream date with teen heart throb Justin Bieber.
6-year-old Avalanna Routh, who is battling a rare form of cancer called AT/RT which affects the brain, was flown in to New York by the 17-year-old pop star after he heard she was a big fan.
Avalanna’s mother reportedly started the Facebook page “Get Avalanna to Meet Justin Bieber” which caught the Bieb’s attention with over 12,000 fans signing on to support.
Shortly after the meeting where the pair played board games and ate cupcakes, Bieber took to Twitter describing the experience as inspirational.
“That was one of the best things I have ever done,” he tweeted to his nearly 20 million followers. “She was AWESOME. Feeling really inspired right now.”
Avalanna, who has been in and out of hospitals for most of her life, even got a chance to run her fingers through Bieber’s legendary locks.
“She’s beaten all the odds,” Avalanna’s mom Aileen Routh told NBC News. “It’s a very aggressive, rare disease, and she’s been in treatment for five and a half years.”
