NEW YORK (TRP) – Well this should come to no surprise, Kim Kardashian is a liar, among other things.
A U.S. sneaker maker will now have to pay $40 million following a settlement Wednesday that ruled the company misled consumers into thinking that wearing their fitness shoes will make you lose weight and strengthen your butt.
Skechers USA Inc., which ads feature reality star Kim Kardashian and TV personality Brooke Burke, was accused by the Federal Trade Commission of making deceptive claims with their products, specifically its Shape-ups.
The FTC said the sneaker company’s popular commercials suggested that wearing Shape-ups would help you trim your figure all while tonning your legs, stomach and butt.
Karshashian, who is widely known for having a derriere that never takes a day off, was featured in a national ad campaign where she bid farewell to her trainer and said “hello” to Shape-ups.
The settlement also involves the footwear company’s Resistance Runner, Toners, and Tone-ups shoes.
Consumers who bought any of the sneakers will be eligible to receive refunds.

Despite the timeless myth that claims “hips don’t lie,” the Skechers company was caught lying after they suggested that their Shape-ups could tighten your legs, thighs and booty.
How do you get a refund on the sketchers shapeup sneakers? I Don’t have my receipt but bought them at a sketchers Outlet Mall Store in Niagara Falls.
