Nicki Minaj Comes Out Swinging In Heated Funkmaster Flex Interview

NEW YORK (TRP) – Nicki Minaj has broken her silence about her last minute cancellation at Hot 97’s Summer Jam Sunday, which left thousands of fans disappointed and angry.

Minaj, who was expected to headline the annual concert at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, went on the air with Funk Master Flex Monday night to talk about what led to her pulling out and the war of words between the two camps.

“My fans at Summer Jam didn’t appreciate his comments, nor did my fans who were watching the livestream appreciate his comments,” she said referring to remarks made by Hot 97 deejay Peter Rosenberg about her music.

Rosenberg’s comments which were about her song “Starships” were made before a crowd of thousands at a pre-show event that streamed live online.

“I know there are chicks here waiting to hear see some “Starship” sh**, I’m not talking to your right now. F**k that bullshit. I am here to talk about real hip hop shit,” Rosenberg said before presenting two acts.

The remarks set off a fire storm that prompted head of Young Money label Lil’Wayne to pull his #1 selling artist Minaj from the show, making it official on Twitter where he said his crew will not be performing.

Flex accused Minaj of not exercising every possible option to resolve the issue, where she instead allowed Lil’ Wayne to call all the shots.

“After a man went on stage and disrespects me and tries to rile people up, I still was planning on going on that stage and shame on me. Lil Wayne gave me a valuable lesson in self worth. He tweeted before he called me, and when I spoke to him he said, ‘Nick, we ain’t doing that show.”

As Flex and Minaj went back and fourth for about an hour, the two came to an understanding and appeared to agree that the egos of all those involved got in the way of bringing fans a show that would have been historic.
