NEW YORK (PIX11) — Christmas is more than three months away but it isn’t stopping some retailers from rolling out early holiday ads, reminding us all of the inevitable.
A recent holiday-themed commercial for Kmart already has some consumers fuming but can you blame them.
“It doesn’t make any sense to me. Absolutely unfair to do that to consumers. Give them a chance to enjoy the summer,” Bronx resident Evette Fairweather said. “But hey, they just wanna make money so…”
Meanwhile Mike D’elia said he understands why the retail giant is already pushing the holidays.
“[Kmart] isn’t doing so well right now. They need to get the word out there now, because I think once you put it out there people will take advantage of it.”
In Kmart’s defense, the retailer said the holiday ad coincided with the roll-out of their new layaway policy and it just wanted to give customers a heads up on the new no-service fees being offered before Thanksgiving. Consumers like Yvette Morales pleaded a simple case.
“If you don’t got a sale, don’t put it up there,” she said.
