NEW YORK (TRP) — If you felt a disturbance in the universe Wednesday afternoon, don’t be alarmed. What you felt was over 350 dancers twerking their tushes off in Herald Square.
The gyrating group landed right into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most people to ever twerk simultaneously.

Laura Littman, who considers herself to be an intermediate twerker, admitted that the event was indeed silly but it wasn’t going to stop her from attending.“I’m embarrassed [to be here], but I love it,” she told PIX11 News.
Leading the twerking charge was the man of the hour – the self-proclaimed “Queen of Bounce” – Big Freedia, who explained that the secret behind the provocative dance was “all in the hips.”
“The motion is in the hips, not in the knees you can use your knees for support but it’s in your hips and in your back,” he explained.

Despite the scandalous reputation attached to the popular dance – widely credited to Miley Cyrus who twerked her way right into the headlines after shocking viewers with it at this year’s VMAs – it’s all about having fun, Big Freedia said.
“The people who are all tight up and stuck up — the hell with them, let’s roll.”
