Group on a mission to make NYC nicer, less douchey

BROOKLYN (TRP) – “Spread more smiles out there, people!” urges Brooklyn man Patrick Fromuth, saying a smile can really change someone’s day.

What seems like a simple request, can be quite the tall order for the average New Yorker. But for Fromuth and his group, it’s just one part of spreading the word of their so-called “kindness revolution.”

“Just to make someone smile and to let that ripple move forward – that is our agenda right today,” he told PIX11 News.

The group, called NYC’s RAK (Random Acts of Kindness), schedule meet up’s in random locations in New York to spread their message.

Back on Valentine’s Day, nearly 40 participants gathered to hand out 750 flowers to strangers in Washington Square Park.

This past weekend, Prospect Park in Brooklyn was the designated location where members took to the bike trail, inspiring runners and cyclists with notes of inspiration.

“Great stride” – read one note handed to a passerby.

In a city that never sleeps and never stops, taking a few moments in the day to be kind to a stranger may seem like a bit of an anomaly.

However, just like everything in life, baby steps will get the ball rolling.
