NEW YORK (PIX11) – Bumper to bumper traffic, don’t you love it? — said no one ever.
More than likely, you’ve found yourself in a traffic nightmare while on your way to the airport.
Instead of missing your flight, how about hopping in a chopper.
It’s called Gotham Air and they’re offering affordable helicopter service from Manhattan to JFK and Newark Liberty Airport in only 6 minutes.
Yes, you read right, 6 whole minutes.
“I know that the rock stars and movie stars fly in helicopters all the time and we wanted to see if there was a way to do it for everybody,” CEO of Gotham Air Tim Hayes told PIX11 News. “It turns out, there is.”
Starting at $99, passengers can take to the skies like an A-lister, dodging the traffic in style in a 407 helicopter billed as the “sports car of helicopters,” according to Hayes.

Another priceless amenity included in the service is feeling like a bad ass as you walk off a helicopter.
Oh and the views are pretty neat too.
“I think this service should be open to more outside of rock stars and very wealthy people,” said John Kjekstad, Director of Operations for Helicopter Flight Services, one of the largest and most trusted names in luxury aviation.
“This will make it simple. It’s a cool thing and we have the app coming up, you can easily book it with a few clicks.”
While Gotham Air’s mobile app has a launch date for next month, the service is available now and will eventually expand to other locations later this year.
After the introductory flight of $99, prices will range from $199 to $219, which is still a bargain considering going rates of competitors start at $500.
The reality is, could you really put a price on the feeling of bad ass, stepping off a helicopter while rocking a mint pair of shades?
No. No, you can’t.
In addition to flying Gotham’s skies in the lap of luxury, the service comes with “in-flight” food from Chef Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery and comfortable Hermes leather seats.
