New app creates invisible boyfriend or girlfriend for single people

NEW YORK (TRP) – “Why aren’t you married yet?”

It’s the age-old question that could infuriate any single person who is just minding his or her own business.

What some may deem as just being inquisitive could sometimes, for a single person, feel like a tactless grilling.

For times like these, having an invisible lover would silence those judgy critics, right?

Enter “Invisible Boyfriend and Invisible Girlfriend” – an app that puts you in a relationship with an imaginary, non-existent boo who sends you texts, leaves you voicemails and will even write you one handwritten note.

While at first it may seem silly, according to the company’s president and co-founder Matt Homann, it’s a service resonating with many.

“It’s really for anyone who is feeling this type of relationship pressure for no reason at all and they just need a better way to combat it,” he said.

“From making an ex jealous to getting your feet wet after a long dry spell, there’s a laundry list of reasons why people sign up.”

While some responses do seem generic, the company assures users they’re real people – not robots – on the other end.

The process of creating that invisible significant other is pretty simple. You give them a name, an age, a profile pic, some personality traits and of course you establish how you met. Minutes later, you have the person of your dreams. Literally.

The Invisible Girlfriend/Boyfriend service includes 100 texts, 10 voicemails and one postcard from your mystery lover and it’ll cost you about $24.99/month. Subscribers could cancel at any time.
