NEW YORK (PIX11) — It may be winter, but the Radio City Rockettes are looking to get a leg up on Spring.
The Rockettes, along with Dancing With The Stars’ Derek Hough and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti, are gearing up for the first-ever New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.
“The New York Spring Spectacular is a total love letter to New York we take the audience through New York City and visit every iconic place there is,” Radio City rockette Stacey Abeles told PIX11 News.
“We go to The MET museum, Grand Central Station, Central Park – everything.”
From an epic dancing in the rain sequence to some amazing live puppetry, the Spring Spectacular is not so much a show but an experience.
“For me it’s very exciting to bring these puppets to the show because they are human-operated,” Puppeteer designer and director Matt Acheson told PIX11. “They’re very hands-on and they have a spontaneous quality to them that you can’t get from an animatronic.”
Some of the big names who will be lending their voices to the puppets include Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Whoopi Goldberg.
The New York Spring Spectacular opens on March 26. For more info on the show and tickets, visit their website.
