What a ‘Cool Baby’ — One’s man mission to make drinking in public look adorable

BROOKLYN (PIX11) — From the innovative to the insane, Kickstarter campaigns have truly proven the notion if you build it, they will come – and they will fund.

Just ask Ohio man Zack Danger Brown who just wanted to make potato salad. When he turned to Kickstarter for guidance, he managed to raise over $55,000 from complete strangers. The potato salad itself is still a work in progress.

Another successful Kickstarter campaign promised consumers the best protection from zombies with an ever-expanding range of soap products. You may call it crazy but the fact is, it got funded.

One Kickstarter campaign coming out of Brooklyn that’s now building momentum is Cool Baby – a hands-free beverage insulator that looks like (you guessed it) – a little ol’ baby.

The 'Cool Baby' allows you to drink discreetly in public.

“There are always triple takes,” explained Cool Baby creator Simon Philion, on the reaction he gets when he wears the strapped plastic baby out in public.

“People either think you’re a single dad or they think you’re a huge jerk, or just hilarious,” he said.

Developed by Philion, who works as a writer in advertising, Cool Baby has a simple yet brilliant design that allows consumers to strap it on and get their drink on for just about any occasion.

If Philion meets his $70,000 goal, each baby will retail for about $35. Each purchase includes a birth certificate and promises to make every drinking experience – regardless of what that drink may be – adorable.
