Melting snow uncovers several weaves, a track suit, a ton of feces & other fun stuff in NYC

NEW YORK (PIX11) – There’s no doubt that when the temperature is 60 degrees or higher in a month like March in a city like New York, it’s definitely a good day.

With clear skies and no snow, it was pretty much rainbows and butterflies in and around the area Wednesday, unless you were paying attention to city sidewalks. Just about every where you look, its a hot trashy mess.

Along Nostrand Avenue in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, the now-melted mounds of snow uncovered just about any thing and everything. “Around this corner, I’ve seen needles and some pipes,” a resident who lives on Nostrand Ave. said.

When PIX11 cameras took a stroll around the neighborhood, we uncovered hair extensions, sneakers, filth-soaked sweat pants and a once-decorative sofa pillow among other things scattered on curbs.

Dog poop was probably the biggest trend not only in Bed-Stuy but in Crown Heights and East Williamsburg. It’s a direct result of dog owners being clearly misinformed on how snow works. (Hint: it cannot vaporize your pet’s business.)

According to the Department of Sanitation, crews will be out and about cleaning up curbs and streets for the next fews days thanks to the warmer weather. If they miss a spot, residents are urged to call 311.
