NEW YORK (TRP)—A suspicious package that prompted the evacuation of 2 World Financial Center Thursday, turned out to be a novelty toy grenade, officials said.According to an NYPD spokesman, the package was discovered at 10:54 a.m. in a loading delivery area.
A security screener used to scan visitors detected what appeared to be an explosive device. An investigation later determined that it was a toy that resembled a grenade.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the visitor who was carrying the novelty will be charged.
Workers at the building have since been allowed to return into the building.
