THE BRONX (TRP) — He’s only 16-years-old and Carlos Almonte, better known as BB Bronx is blowing up on YouTube with his new single “Bronx Whine” featuring Reggaeton star Farruko, which pays homage to the borough’s treasured urban dance.
“When I first got to the Bronx, everybody was doing it and I was like oh, what is this?” the teen told PIX11 News, on the first time he heard about the Bronx whine. “Later when I started doing freestyle and started doing music, I decided to do a song for it.”
As he nears a quarter of a million views online, the Dominican Republic native has spawned off an apparent dance craze with his soon-to-be summer hit. Not too shabby for a straight-A sophomore who attends Bronx Lighthouse Charter School who’s top priority is hitting the books.
“It’s all about keeping grades up and keeping school first for me and then music [comes second],” he said.
Watch as BB Bronx and his choreographer J-Romeo reveal the moves, step-by-step, behind the Bronx Whine in the video above.
